Dear Members of the American Adoption Community Interested in Ukraine

This is to inform you of the most recent news regarding the situation at the State Department for Adoptions and Protection of the Rights of the Child (SDAPRC).

On March 20, 2007 the SDAPRC Director Ludmyla Volynets, her First Deputy Ludmyla Balym, Deputy Director Inna Savchuk and Head of the Intercountry Adoption Unit Olena Remen have resigned. New leadership has not yet been appointed.

Сhanges in the Department of State policy on validity of fingerprints

We'd like to inform you that according to the current USCIS (formerly INS) regulations, the I-600 petition (filed at an overseas post for a specific child after the adoption has been completed abroad) can be approved only if the petitioners (and all other adult members of the household) have unexpired FBI fingerprint results. They are valid for 15 months and must be re-done after that period, if the parents apply for an immigrant visa after the expiration date.

Update on Ukraine's Adoption Program, October 31, 2007

Dear Members of the American Adoption Community Interested in Ukraine:

According to the State Department for Adoptions and Protection of the Rights of the Child, the annual quota for submission of the U.S. dossiers (558) has already been exhausted. From now until December 1, 2007 no more dossiers from the U.S. citizens will be accepted, except for the following categories of children:
special needs children
children 13 and older
siblings of the previously adopted children (re-unification of siblings)

H1N1 Adoption Notice - November 05, 2009
